Important information about training at NBSS

| View in browser Dear Students:   As Director of Facilities and Technology, it’s my job to make sure the building operations run smoothly, both on a daily basis and in the event of an emergency. This is especially important as we train in-person during the continuing pandemic. It is worth noting that we have maintained continuity of instruction through the last academic year—but this doesn’t mean we should rest easy. It’s only through our shared focus and dedication that we will see this through.   The main points of the NBSS Health & Safety Plan revolve around a few simple actions, including vaccination requirements (with approved exemptions), mandatory mask wearing, and daily screenings, among other protocols. In addition to these, we have contingency plans in place when someone becomes sick, needs to quarantine, has to work remotely, etc. We will flex and adapt as needed, as COVID-19 continues to change in the world, in Boston, and in our community.   Review the Full Health & Safety Plan Please review the NBSS Health & Safety Plan and our Health & Safety webpage. In particular, be sure to read the FAQs on the "Health & Safety" and "Training & Education" sub-pages on the website.   Once you've familiarized yourself with the protocols, click here to acknowledge that you've read and understand them. We must have this acknowledgement from you before school begins.       As you are about to begin classes next month I want to inform you of some specific protocols:   Wearing Masks While we continue to follow CDC guidance, we are also aware that this guidance is changing regularly, as are City of Boston regulations. Wearing masks will continue to be one of the tools we use in the coming year to reduce risk and promote a healthy environment.   All students, faculty, and staff working or training in the building are required to wear masks. This includes program spaces, common areas, and when in enclosed spaces while offsite. For students and faculty working outdoors, masks are recommended but optional, with faculty permission. All visitors will also wear masks.   For those seeking a vaccine accommodation plan, masks will be one of the main aspects of accommodation plans, and will be worn regularly by those individuals, throughout the academic year. Routine testing may also be part of accommodation plans.    Accommodation Plans For those who have submitted a vaccine exemption request, we have been working with our staff and faculty to determine individual accommodation plans. Those will be communicated to you shortly.    Unvaccinated incoming and returning students (with approved accommodation plans) will need to show proof of a negative FDA-authorized COVID test taken within a week before the start of school, which is September 13, 2021.       If you have any questions on any of these items, please send them to info@nbss.edu.    I cannot stress this enough: this plan only works if we all do our part. Continuing to work and move in these new ways may be challenging at times, but I know our community is up to the task.   Thank you for helping to create a safe, healthy, and productive environment at NBSS.
