Dear friend,

I hope you are well, both in health and spirit. Although it’s been a few weeks since I was last in touch, the well-being, work, and progress of students are always on my mind. The end of the semester is in sight, and I hope it brings a sense of accomplishment and relief—you have so much to be proud of in your commitment to your programs and your colleagues, particularly over these last months.

As I shared in my last note to you, we’re outlining a plan for Fall that allows for in-person teaching while following best practices for physical distancing, health, and safety. This plan takes into consideration the different needs of graduating, continuing, and new students. Assisting me in this work is a Covid Response Team made up of staff and advisors. Together with input from faculty, we are taking seriously the need to work and teach safely while upholding the standards of an NBSS education.

I hope to be in touch with you by the end of June with an update on plans for Fall and the next academic year. And in the nearer term, I know there is interest in accessing the building to pick up your things. Later this week, we’ll be sending a schedule to coordinate safe access.

As we head to the close of the semester, I send my early congratulations to you for your perseverance and effort. The entire School – staff, faculty, Board, and I – have been inspired by your endurance and strong finish. From all of us, we hope that the end of May brings some rest and the celebration of spring. We will keep in touch.

All the best,

Sarah Turner
