Dear students, faculty, and staff:
As the new Director of Facilities & Technology, I’m looking forward to working alongside you, and to making sure NBSS remains a safe, reliable, and productive environment. This is important both in our daily operations as a trade school, and especially so as we continue in-person training during the pandemic.
Even as new tools in the fight against Covid-19 become more available, this is no time to relax our focus. As we head into the last few months of our school year, I want to remind you of these specific protocols from the NBSS Reopening Plan:
Vaccination
It’s important that we use all the tools available to us to help stop this pandemic. It’s for this reason that we as a School believe adding vaccines to our community’s response will be a meaningful, effective way to maintain our continued health and safety.
At this time, all vaccinated individuals must continue to comply with all of the School's health and safety protocols, including those related to travel, daily screenings, mask wearing, physical distancing, required testing, and so on. We expect this will last through the end of the School year, while experts learn more about the protection vaccines provide under real-life conditions.
We realize that we are taking a more cautious position than other organizations. This is to be protective of our School and our focus on in-person time together, even as we learn more about the vaccine and its success in the community.
Travel & Required Testing
NBSS strongly encourages students, faculty, and staff to postpone any non-essential travel, and to gather only with those in your own household. If you must travel, or spend time with others who traveled, we require that you:
- Quarantine for seven (7) full days upon your return home*
- Get tested (PCR-type) three to five (3–5) days after travel, and
- If your test is negative, email the result to info@nbss.edu before returning to NBSS, or provide a printed hard copy to the front desk on your first day back.
- If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
* Please quarantine a full seven (7) days after your travel, if you test negative in the meantime.
Gatherings & Required Testing
Regardless of travel, if you gather indoors, and are in close contact with people outside of your normal household over the break, we require that you follow all of the same protocols as above. If you don’t have or aren’t sure of a venue for testing, here are some resources:
Required Daily Screening
As a reminder, we require that all students, staff, and faculty complete this screening form within two hours before arriving at NBSS. If there are any days that you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed on the form or any other unusual symptoms, it is essential that you do not come to school that day.
For more information on School, Commonwealth, or CDC protocols, visit the NBSS Reopening Plan here. If you have any questions about these School-wide protocols, please email info@nbss.edu.
Thank you again for your focus, your vigilance, and for helping maintain a safe, healthy, and productive environment at NBSS.
My best,
